First Field Trip
Klayton has been waiting and waiting for the chance to ride the school bus! And FINALLY the opportunity came as his class went to visit the library!
Parents were invited to attend; but I am still unsure how he would behave with me around. So, I met up with his class at the library for story time.
And some silly songs!
Followed with art time in the children's section.
But, my most favorite part of the field trip was watching him line up to ride the bus back to school. My heart was just SO happy knowing that his "little dream" had come true.
School days will soon be passed and I am thankful that I can look back at these moments with fondness.

Winter Carnival
The 8th graders at Klayton's school hosted a Winter Carnival in the gym for a class fundraiser. It was $5 at the door and that gave you 10 tickets to play with in the gym. There were several activities, face painting, decorate a cookie, make your own ice cream sundae; but Klayton's favorites were the bowling, ring toss, basketball and bowling again and again!
Klayton loves being a Ninja and he brought his ninja moves to the Penguin Ring Toss, I wish I would have video taped his Ninja moves! His moves were show stopping as parents of girls stopped to watch! I emphasize girls because I think Ninja moves are something you rarely, if ever see a girl doing!
The bean bag toss gave me a giggle as Klayton would stand behind the tossing line and then quickly run to the snowman and drop the bean bag in the hole.

And finally, the place we spent the most time...bowling!
My favorite quote of the day was as Klayton stood next to a 12 year old girl who was bowling...he told her to take her turn first and then said, "I'll show you girlfriend!"

Klayton and Preschool
Klayton turns 4 on Tuesday! Seriously, how did this happen?! Ok, I DO know how it happened-he grew, just as he should. It's just hard to believe that he is getting so big and is my not so little boy anymore. In the past I have always done posts all about him a few days before his birthday. I am having a sleepless night-no surprise there-and have been trying to decide what to blog about in regards to him.
Preschool! This has been one of two big changes in his life this past year! First, it was gaining a little brother and then going off to school 4 days a week! Joseph and I had always talked about when the time came that it would probably be a good idea and a good experience to send him to preschool. When the opportunity arose of a preschool opening that had a 3 year old program I was instantly excited as I envisioned how I knew he would love being with other kids and how his speech would improve. I have not been disappointed. It's not been just preschool for him, it's been a time in his life where I have seen him grow and flourish. I am SO thankful that God has allowed me housekeeping jobs to pay for this opportunity. I am also SO thankful for the teacher he has, she is good for him and I know she has come to love him! I know how could she not?!
His favorite thing to do at school is paint, as long as it's not finger painting! He also enjoys cooking! Klayton has also acquired the art of singing since going to school. Until this time he has never tried to sing and now at church I can sometimes hear him singing above my piano playing! The other day as I went to pick him up from school I arrived a few minutes early and from the window I could see him playing the drum as he was singing with his classmates. The smile on his face was priceless, in fact I tear up just picturing his face in that moment. When I stepped inside the pick up area it had become his turn to stand at the front with his teacher and sing. He was doing his part proudly and loving it! As I drove him home that day, he sat in his car seat singing, "I am 'pecial"! What a special sound that was to my ears! Klayton is really such a special boy and I get reminded of that daily and I hope he grows to know that He is special to God and that God DOES love him as the song says:
I am special.
I am special.
God loves me.
God loves me.
Someone very special that is me,
That is me!
In school he is learning the Pledge of Allegiance, his job is to hold the flag! He takes his job VERY seriously-the flag never touches the ground in his care. Klayton is also learning the Christian flag pledge, memorizing Bible verses, the alphabet and sign language for each letter. He is also learning colors, shapes, numbers as well as learning to recognize words, especially his name!
When I drop him off at school I enjoy watching him see his friends! They usually exclaim, "Klayton, I missed you!" Then they all run to each other and hug like they haven't seen each other in years! I have seen though how peer pressure works even at a young age; but in this case for my good! Haha! When I pick him up from school as the other kids take charge by exclaiming, "Mom" and running to their parent with a hello hug-Klayton will then follow suit and do the same! I love those hugs!
Klayton's teacher discovered that he learns best in certain situations when he is able to sit on a ball and bounce! I am thankful that she looks for ways to encourage the best learning possible for him and realizes that not all kids learn the same way!
Before bed the other night he told me, "School, I love it!" That makes my Mama heart so happy and content!

Checking the Time
Klayton goes to school for three hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. This is a brand new experience for all of us so what does a Mama do for three hours without her Klayton? I should add that it seemed like a lifetime.
My first day with Klayton at school was filled with: a drive around town, checked the time, fed brother, checked the time, fed daddy and checked the time. Not even an hour had passed. Made beds, blogged, checked the time-again. It was slightly after 9:30-finally-this means that an hour HAD passed and I just had to wait another hour and forty-five minutes. So, what did I do? Talk to Justus about how much I missed big brother, cleaned, checked the time, played Candy Crush, checked the time, peered at Facebook, checked the time...do you understand yet that I checked the time A LOT? I'm hoping that this is normal survival mode for a Mama sending her child to school for the first time?
And, yeah Justus is bored to sleep without his big brother.

Ten on Tuesday-Preschool Edition
1. I cannot believe that this day is even here...my little boy is going to preschool!

4. Technically he misses the cut off for preschool since his birthday is in October. However, his preschool is in its first year and offering a 3 year old program. We thought it would be a great experience that would also help his speech to flourish!

7. He went in without a backwards glance and I don't think he even noticed that we left him there.

9. There are 5 kids enrolled and I couldn't be more thrilled with that class size! I think its just the right size with three girls and two boys! I'm hoping that he will become great friends with Blake!

...its going to be a long 2 1/2 hours for me.

Ten on Tuesday
1. Klayton is thinking ahead and likes to dress himself in his winter coat and boots! Did I mention he's a crazy kid? Since he likes to do this I sent him outside in the rain!
2. I canned for the first time and chose to do bread and butter pickles-compliments of my mom's garden!
3. Saturday my brother and his family will be here for a visit! Looking forward to time with them!
4. I picked up a cleaning job for a few hours each week!
5. Justus is finally at the point where I feel comfortable dressing him in shoes! Love baby shoes!
6. Most days I really don't recognize what a shower looks like so while in Wisconsin a friend of mine will be giving me a perm! Not an 80's perm!
7. My boys like to match. And my two littles are vying for the title of Boss!
8. I am currently on a kick to sell half of my closet as it is in desperate need of downsizing!
9. Next week, Klayton begins preschool. I may or may not tear up on that day, though I am excited! He is not that excited because he won't be riding a school bus.
